New Edition. Contemporary Publishing Magazine. April 2013

Seems money is a major deciding factor in success. Struggling self publishers find it hard to be noticed without two thousand or more dollars. It’s just a fact of life. Gordon Wise makes the point when he talks about the increasing amount of work that the author is expected to do after writing. I think this is something we can talk about without anyone feeling out of place as the publishing world has changed substantially over the last few years. It seems that there is the whole process of getting into the limelight so that an agent might consider you . It’s both uniqueness and being able to fit into the categories which already exist. Too far out of the box finds it a difficult road to travel. The big publishing houses rely on the agent. The writer has to find a way to attract, convince the agent that his or her book is the one they are searching for. No-one ever said it was going to be easy. I would love to see some comments
